Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb is playing for a pay-hike at Schalke.

Schalke are set to sign Bentaleb outright from Spurs after an impressive loan spell.

And contrary to reports, the deal was independent of the number of appearances the midfielder plays this season.

Instead, the amount of games will dictate the contract S04 hand Bentaleb when he signs permanently this summer.

Schalke will cough up €23 million to Tottenham for Bentaleb, who will receive a four-year deal.
