Tottenham midfielder Maddison: My first NLD? I love it!

Tottenham midfielder James Maddison admits he enjoyed Sunday's 2-2 draw at Arsenal.

It marked Maddison's first experience of a North London derby.

He told SPURSPLAY: “Just the pace of the game.

“The pace of the game was top, top level. Those are the games I want to be involved in. Our fans were top drawer, so loud. That created a good dynamic for the game, a proper derby, tackles flying in, bookings, goals, penalties, VAR checks, the lot, all of that.

“Yes, it was a proper derby game, my first north London derby, I absolutely loved the experience, to be fair, right in amongst it, a proper Premier League game, a proper, intense, fast-paced match.

“It was a high-intensity game, a point in the end probably a fair result, on balance. I loved it out there. It's one of those… in the dying moments, you want to push everything to go and win it, but you also don't want the heartbreak of leaving yourself vulnerable and you lose it on the counter. On reflection, there are lots of positives and we keep going, we're still undefeated, still to be beaten, so, we take the positives."
