Tottenham midfielder Livermore says loans accelerated his development

Tottenham midfielder Jake Livermore says his time away on-loan has accelerated his development.

Livermore was farmed out on loan to SIX League clubs in three years before making his first-team breakthrough.

He has impressed as a midfield sidekick for the likes of Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Scott Parker ever since scoring his first senior goal in Tottenham's 5-0 win at Hearts in the Europa League's qualifying round.

"I'm proud to fly the flag for Tottenham in Europe, and it's nice that the manager has trusted me to be involved in so many of our games this season," he said.

"When you see your name on the team-sheet along with some world-class players, it gives your confidence a boost to know the boss has that faith in you.

"In return, I know that Harry Redknapp will give youngsters a chance, because he had a track record of doing that at West Ham and I know he will give me a fair crack if I keep working hard at my game.

"By going out on loan to half a dozen clubs in the last two or three years hopefully I've shown I'm prepared to learn about the game and to learn about myself as I grow up.

"I've been patient, and waited for my chance, and hopefully now is the time to show those different experiences, and learning from managers like Roy Keane, Simon Grayson and Nigel Clough have stood me in good stead."
