Tottenham manager Postecoglou: I choose Richarlison to win games

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has outlined his plans for forward Richarlison.

The Brazilian has not shown his best qualities since arriving at the club from Everton last summer.

With Richarlison currently the man tasked with taking Harry Kane's spot in the lineup, Postecoglou was asked if he will preserve with the player to try and get him into form.

He told reporters: “No, I pick teams that I think will win games. If I think he is going to help us win a game of football, I will put him in. I am not going to put him in there to try and sort of help him in some individual pursuit.

“The players I work with soon come to understand my philosophy around everything individually is it comes back to the team ethos and what we're trying to do as a group. Within that sometimes people in a group struggle and it is up to the rest of us to help them through that patch in the best way we can and for the individual to just make sure he is contributing.

“I will put Richy in the team because I think we can win the game with him in the team, not because I am trying to get him into a certain space. This is not something we're trying to create to help individuals through a process, we want to win games of football and we want to play the game a certain way. Every time I pick a team that is all that's in my head."
