Tottenham lead Newcastle, Chelsea in Beckham loan race

Tottenham are launching a bid to bring LA Galaxy star David Beckham back to England. The Daily Express says Spurs head a list of Premier League clubs to register an interest in signing Beckham in January.

Beckham is in talks with LA Galaxy about making a two-month loan move to Europe before the MLS season kicks off in March.

Having previously spent two loan spells at AC Milan, Beckham has offers from clubs in Italy and Spain too.

Blackburn, West Ham, Sunderland, Newcastle, Everton and Blackpool have all made it clear they would like to sign Beckham. Chelsea, short on creativity and experienced players, could also be interested.

Manchester United icon Beckham started his junior career with Spurs and his grandfather Joe West was a Tottenham fan. Beckham has always felt an affinity with the club.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has tried to sign Beckham before and knows that a loan deal would be beneficial on and off the pitch.
