Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario says his ambitions include reaching the Euros with Italy.

Vicario is acting as backup to PSG keeper Gigio Donnarumma with Italy.

He told Radio Serie A: : "My goal at the moment is to qualify for the European Championship with the national team; everything that will be a direct consequence. Wearing the Azzurri shirt always makes you feel a thrill, singing the anthem is something special.

"My relationship with Gigi is one of respect and friendship, and this is created when you feel good in the group. I have always had professional respect for him and it is mutual, when you wear the Azzurri shirt you are part of a single group.

"The hug with him served to give a signal in a difficult period, it came naturally to me to go and hug him to celebrate with him. The match against Ukraine was deeply felt by my family, at that moment we were hosting a Ukrainian family fleeing the war. Now they have returned home, but we still talk and stay in touch.

"The match on November 20th against Ukraine will be important. We arrive there with the awareness of wearing a shirt that has an important history. We must face it with humility and the awareness of having done everything possible to win."
