Tottenham want to secure Luka Modric to a new contract before the January transfer window.
The Sun says the Croatian was the subject of three bumper bids from Chelsea this summer - with the last one valuing the playmaker at £40million.
But Spurs held firm and boss Harry Redknapp expects chairman Daniel Levy to hold talks over a fresh deal for Modric.
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp insists the 26-year-old - who scored a sensational goal against the Reds - has put talk of a switch away from White Hart Lane on ice.
Redknapp said: "It was a great strike. That's why we were offered £40million for him, because he's a top player.
"But Luka is fine now, he's just getting on with it.
"I think the chairman will sit down with him and discuss his contract.
"That's what I'd like to happen. The chairman has said he would give it six or seven weeks, sit down and have a chat with him."
