Tottenham Hotspur have denied a story that their stadium will not be ready before the start of the new year.

Spurs are going through some issues in getting their new stadium open, which was meant to be ready for the start of the season.

An article in Construction News stated that it would be January 2019 before the stadium was ready to go.

Safety concerns are an issue. But Spurs have moved to deny that story.

A club spokesperson from Tottenham told Sky Sports News on Wednesday: "We have always said that we would issue updates for test events and official opening as soon as we have confidence in our project managers' and contractors' ability to deliver against the revised schedule of works.

"This remains the case and speculating on unsupported dates such as this is irresponsible."
