Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld says he won't let emotions get the better of him against former club Ajax.
Spurs and Ajax will meet in the first-leg of their Champions League semifinal this week.
“I grew up in Amsterdam, so that creates special feelings. But to ignore it in the matches against Ajax is not difficult. I want to go to the final. I am focused on my work, on the job that I have to do," he told De Telegraaf.
"Of course Christian (Eriksen), Jan (Vertonghen), Davinson Sánchez and I now play for Tottenham Hotspur, but we all left Ajax through the front door."
On the possibility of re-signing of Ajax, Alderweireld was honest.
He added: "I can make very popular statements, but I don't know what's coming my way. I do not say 'no' in advance for the future. But I am now fully focused on Tottenham and after that I also have a contract for one season."
