Tottenham colleagues Bale and Defoe go head-to-head in England, Wales clash

Jermain Defoe has warned Gareth Bale that if England beat Wales in Saturday's European Championship qualifier that the Welsh star can expect some stick from his team-mate. The two countries meet in this weekend's crunch Group G clash at the Millennium Stadium.

"Gareth Bale's been giving me a lot of banter, so I just hope that we win the game," said Defoe during a guided tour of a factory in Luton for Vauxhall, who are official partners of the England team.

"I look forward to going back into the club and giving the banter back."

However, Defoe admits Bale is a serious threat to England's chances.

"He's their biggest threat, to be honest," the striker said.

"When he gets the ball, he's direct and he can beat players. His pace is phenomenal, his power.

"Even from set-pieces as well, he's got a great left foot.

"He's fresh because he's just come back from injury."
