Tottenham captain Son hails Romero, Maddison early season impact

Tottenham captain Heung-min Son has hailed the early season form of Cristian Romero and James Maddison.

The trio all struck in Tottenham's victory at Bournemouth last Saturday.

“It's one of the best goals I've ever seen from Cuti Romero," Son told SPURSPLAY afterwards. “That's why he's vice-captain – in a time we needed him, he stepped up and did something amazing like that.

“He's also doing an amazing defensive job but when that chance comes, it's not easy to score top bins like he did, so I'm very happy that he's working so hard for the team and he totally deserved that goal, especially just before half-time, going in 2-1 it makes a huge different vibe going into the second half. I'm so pleased and I hope he can score more goals for us.

“Madders, this is special from him. In that position, before he shot, I was probably already celebrating, because he's right footed and it's just a joy to watch.

“The passing, the movement, the way he sees the game, I think he's very clever, he controls the game on the ball, off the ball as well. He always steps up. He's played fantastic all season and he will continue in that way.

“Look, we could talk all day about Cuti, Madders, also the rest of the players who played fantastic. We don't want to focus on any individual because it's a team sport. Madders and Cuti played very well, fantastic, so did everyone, the players who came on, they gave everything. I'm so happy to have this group around me."
