Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas was disappointed to hear of Ian Holloway's resignation.
The Crystal Palace boss left the club by mutual consent after picking up only three points from their opening eight Premier League games.
AVB said: "It's extremely difficult. The one thing we can't forget is what he has done. The other thing we can't forget is the impact of a managerial change, psychologically.
"Normally in football teams it has that positive impact. It is something that is unfortunate but it's true.
"Not a lot of time is given to managers who have been successful. Everything is seen on the immediate, so it's obviously a pity for Ian.
"It's disappointing, but nothing different from what we have seen in the past. Very short memories."
