Tottenham boss Redknapp: No chance Man Utd will ever sell Rooney

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp can't see any club ever prising Wayne Rooney away from Manchester United.

In his column for The Sun, Redknapp wrote: "Cristiano Ronaldo quit Manchester United for Real Madrid for that eye-watering, record-busting transfer fee of £80million.

"But I don't think there is enough money in the football world to prise Rooney away from Old Trafford, where he is now everybody's main man.

"Back in 2004 when Rooney was just 18, United paid £30m for the striker and some critics outside of the game labelled his move away from Everton as a bit of a gamble.

"Well, if it ever was a gamble - and I for one never believed it was - it has paid magnificent dividends for his manager Alex Ferguson and the England team.

"The rise and rise of Rooney is not sudden. It has not happened because Ronaldo moved to what he thought were pastures greener at Real. It has not happened because Rooney has grown older.

"When Rooney was just 16, everyone who is anyone in football knew he was a special player. A talent that comes along only once in a lifetime, if you are lucky.

"He is the complete player and because of that, England have as good a chance as they are likely to get of winning this year's World Cup."

5 Rooneys wouldn't have won England the world cup. Keep dreaming Harry.
