Tottenham boss Redknapp insists Modric stays: He can be star

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has dismissed talk of a move to Juventus for Luka Modric.

Redknapp said: "Modric could be a real star at this club, like he showed against England at Wembley for Croatia last year.

"He has that amazing football brain. We've got to get him on the ball. He can open things up for you.

"The last goal against Arsenal we played a little ball into him in a dangerous area, between defence and midfield. He shot and hit the post.

"Give him the ball. Tell the players we have got to keep supplying him. Eyal Berkovic was the same for me at West Ham and Pompey. Fantastic brain."

Redknapp revealed he had spoken to Croatia coach Slaven Bilic about Modric, who had been one of the major disappointments under former manager Juande Ramos.

"He's a special player. Bilic said he thinks he's world class, he's a talent. He wasn't getting intimidated against Arsenal," Redknapp added.
