Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is ready to push through a deal for Manchester City attacker Craig Bellamy.
The Daily Express says Redknapp will use Tottenham's pre-season tour of the United States to try to strike a deal for Bellamy.
Spurs boss Redknapp fears City will price Bellamy out of a move but will still check on his asking price and salary when the two clubs compete in the New York Football Challenge later this month.
The Tottenham squad flew to the US yesterday, while the majority of City's players went on Saturday for the tournament that takes place on July 22-25.
Redknapp's main stumbling block will be Bellamy's transfer fee and wages. City bought him for £14million and pay him about £90,000 a week.
Tottenham, who are also chasing Joe Cole, would not want to pay over £6m for Bellamy and would have to convince him to fall in line with their strict £65,000-a-week wage structure.
