Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admits he's delighted with Ledley King's new contract.

Redknapp described Ledley King as 'a massive part of this club' after the skipper signed a new contract to stay at Spurs until 2012.

"I'm delighted with the news and he deserves it," Redknapp told the Spurs website. "Ledley's a great player, a great lad and a massive part of this club. I couldn't be more pleased for him.

"He's as good as anyone, he really is. He came back in for the big games at the end of the season and he was outstanding.

"How he can not train regularly and then play like he did against Tevez and Adebayor in the win at City defied logic. It was amazing.

"Ledley is right up there with the very best players in the country. He's a special player for us."
