Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is chasing Everton midfielder James McCarthy.
The Mirror says Everton boss Roberto Martinez insists McCarthy is not for sale despite interest from Tottenham and Arsenal and they hope a £25million price tag may scare teams off.
But Spurs boss Pochettino has identified McCarthy - who joined Everton from Wigan for £13million in 2013 - as a target as they face major competition for Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin.
Clubs are monitoring McCarthy's developments closely because Everton have so far yet to negotiate a new deal and there is a growing sense of frustration.
