Torres has no doubts choosing USA over Mexico

US midfielder Francisco Torres has spoken to Mexican magazine Esto regarding his call up against Mexico. Torres had to make a decision between the US and Mexico in 2008 as he qualified to play for both. Torres currently plays for Mexican side Pachuca and has been in their system for many years.

However, Torres chose to pursue an American national team place and told the Washington Post at the time the difficulty behind the decision.

He said: "It was a hard decision because I was born in the U.S. and I have lived in Mexico for five years now. My career, I made it in Mexico, but finally I talked it over with my family and they told me whatever decision I make, they had my back."

Speaking with Esto upon receiving news he will be in the squad to face Mexico on February 11th Torres said, "I'm very happy, just tell me and I think the call along with the players coming from Europe will be a great selection.

"I do not think that you can feel something. I take it seriously and with a commitment to do our utmost to put things right. Nothing more. The matches between Mexico and the United States are and will always be a classic of the area and for me will be a special occasion because I know both teams will be a duel."

Mexico face USA in Columbus for the first hexagonal World Cup qualifier on February 11th.
