Toronto FC's head coach John Carver was visibly furious after a late penalty call in their crucial away match against Dallas. Carver stated on the Fox Soccer Channel after the game that he knew he had to be careful with comments as he would get in trouble, but he could not help but describe the officiating as incompetent.
Carver said: "I'm disappointed because I think we've been robbed.
"We deserved to be 2-1 up and late on the front foot. It's really disappointing. You go into the dying moments of the game and a decision is given against you. That's the story of our season. That's happened all season. You work hard from Monday to Friday. You step over the white line and it's in the hand of the gods. On this occasion, it's gone against us again."
The game finished 2-2 after Toronto FC were a goal down in the first half coming close to securing all three points at Pizza Hut Park. Carver added on FSC that the team in the locker room were "absolutely devastated."
Toronto FC still have an outside chance of reaching the play offs should they win their remaining two games and other match results go their way.
