Nikolai Topor-Stanley has departed Newcastle Jets and is set to join new A-League club Western Sydney.
The 27-year old centre-back was granted a release by the Jets with CEO Robbie Middleby revealing the club allowed him to leave for the good of his career.
"This opportunity gives him longevity in the game and as a club we couldn't stand in his way.
"We would like to thank Nikolai for his contribution to the Jets and wish him well in the future.""He is a good footballer and this is a wonderful opportunity for Nikolai to continue his career at another club," Middleby said.
Former Sydney FC defender Topor-Stanley joined the Jets from Perth Glory in 2009 and emerged as one of the top centre-halves in the A-League during his time in Newcastle.
