Tomiyasu scraps World Cup break to rejoin Arsenal squad

Arsenal right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu has backtracked regarding needing time off after the World Cup.

The defender was shocked at his team's exit from the World Cup, as they were beaten by Croatia on penalties.

In the aftermath of the round of 16 clash, Tomimyasu indicated he needed some time off to process the result.

Tomiyasu fought-back tears as he stated: "I don't know. Hopefully I can get a bit of rest. I need time to forget about football. I need a bit of time."

He then added: "Of course we are so disappointed with the result. My performance was a disaster today so I am sorry for the team.

“I just need to be much better to help the team. It was not enough and also for the team we did not deserve to win. We were so close to achieving our aim. They were better than us. I can't be proud. I am not satisfied about what happened."

Despite those words, Japanese newspaper Sports Nippon states that Tomiyasu is already flying off to Dubai to link up with his Arsenal teammates.
