Manchester United legend David Beckham is being tipped for an acting career by Tom Cruise.

Cruise wants to make a film star out of departing LA Galaxy star Beckham.

A source told the Mirror: "David has been linked with Hollywood a number of times, but Tom is the only one he'd ever take up, he thinks Tom's a legend.

"He'd still like to have a sporting element to it. Tom's a sporty guy, too, so any collaboration would be about something competitive."

And friends or not, Tom still wants to be the hero.

He previously said of Becks: "He would make a great baddie."
