Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld can understand teammate Jan Vertonghen seeking a move to Tottenham.

Vertonghen declared he'd welcome the chance to join Spurs earlier this week.

Alderweireld said: "Tottenham Hotspur would be a good club for him. They play at the top of a beautiful competition and also he would have a good chance to be a regular first-choice player.

"For Jan that's a more important consideration than a big bag of money."
