Fluminense defender Thiago Silva has welcomed praise from Manchester City star Robinho.

Robinho has recommended that Manchester City make a move for the Fluminense centre-back, and Silva says it would be an honour to play with the former Real Madrid forward.

Silva said: "Receiving praise from him brings me even more confidence and certainty that I am ready to build a solid future in European football.

"Besides being an ace on the field, I met Robinho with the national team and realised he is loved by all.

"Even though he is young, he has already won several titles and is respected around the world. I don't know if one day I will play in the same team as him, but I like the idea of it."
