Thiago Alcantara feels confidence growing in second season with Liverpool

Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara is more confident of showing his best qualities in his second season at the club.

The Spaniard arrived to much fanfare from Bayern Munich before the start of last season, having recently won the Champions League with the German giants.

He failed to live up to his potential, with the Reds enduring a difficult defence of their Premier League title last term.

But the talented midfielder insists he is feeling an improvement in his game during his second season at Anfield.

"We tried to avoid all the injury situations with hard work and our daily routines," said Thiago in a pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday's clash with Porto.

"We changed some things to make that not happen, but at the end it's part of our job as well.

"It was very interrupted the first year with Liverpool because of the COVID situation and injury. Then I had a quick adaptation with the team in the league.

"We struggled last season for many reasons and this year you know much better the team-mates, the runs that they make, how they prefer to receive the ball, how they defend, how they attack.

"My performances I am hoping help the team in different ways, as the team wants and coach wants. We are trying to win as we want to win."
