Manchester City management are delighted with the way fans have welcomed the club's new owner Thaksin Shinawatra and manager Sven Goran Eriksson.

City chief Alistair Mackintosh told mcfc.co.uk: "I'd also like to thank all the supporters, including all those that have bought Seasoncards, those that game to Valencia at the weekend and those that proved that this is our City when we took over Albert Square on Saturday night.

"After a period of uncertainty over the summer, we are absolutely delighted with the way the fans have embraced the change of ownership, welcomed Dr Thaksin and the new manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.

"We told Dr Thaksin about the club's potential, and he is totally committed to our shared vision for City. He is delighted with the response he has already received."
