Terry issues defiant call to all Chelsea doubters

Chelsea skipper John Terry is adamant the critics are wrong and that the Blues are united and will soon bounce back into the title race. Terry recently spent over three weeks sidelined with a nerve problem in his right leg as Chelsea are without a win in their last five Premier League games.

The England centre-half made his league return against Everton earlier this month and was then instrumental as Chelsea came from behind to earn a draw at Tottenham.

Despite dropping from first spot to fourth of late, Terry believes Chelsea's team spirit is as strong as ever.

"People question me all the time but I feel that I am playing very well at the moment even though we are going through a sticky patch," Terry told The Sentinel.

"We all have a lot more to give, I feel I have more to give even though I'm playing well.

"I have seen a couple of things about the players questioning each other and not being committed enough - it's absolute rubbish. It's so frustrating to read.

"The players are so passionate about turning this corner and going on a good run. We believe playing like we did against Spurs, we can win the League again.

"As long as we stay solid on the pitch, the fans stay with us, I'm sure playing like this, we're going to be back."

The 30 year old is keen to see out the remaining four years on his contract at the very least, but he is realistic about his chances of staying in the first team long-term.

He added: "I have four years left on my contract here and I want to extend that. I'd love to set massive milestones at the club and continue playing at the highest level.

"I know there will come a point when I'm not good enough and there will be younger players or signings coming in to replace me," he admitted.

"I'm big enough and old enough to accept that. But I will give it a right good go till the end.

"On the whole I do feel really fit. I still feel as if I'm 18 even though I look a bit older than that and I'm looking forward to making many more appearances for the club."
