Terry hails arrival of new Chelsea signing Anelka

Chelsea captain John Terry has hailed the signing of former Bolton Wanderers striker Nicolas Anelka.

The much-travelled Anelka made his debut as a substitute for the Blues against Tottenham on Saturday, following his £15million move from Bolton.

Terry, currently out with a foot injury, was delighted to see the Frenchman immediately settle into Chelsea's style of play and begin to develop an understanding with his new team-mates.

"I feel we're getting everything - he gives us options," Terry said of Anelka.

"He gives us pace, and that stretches teams.

"He scores great goals for every club he's been at. He has all-round quality and will be great for us."

As for Anelka's occasionally mercurial reputation, Terry is confident the 28-year-old ex-Arsenal striker is ready to come of age at Chelsea.

"He came on and got on well with everyone instantly," the England defender told Sky Sports. "He will fit in very well at our place."
