Ten Cate convinced Liverpool ace Wijnaldum can end up 'at Feyenoord or PSV'

Former Barcelona assistant coach Henk ten Cate can see Gini Wijnaldum returning to the Eredivisie this summer.

The midfielder has announced he is leaving Liverpool as his contract runs down next month and Ten Cate can see a return to Holland on the horizon.

He said on Rondo via Voetbalzone: "I really mean that. That could just be, because he's such a type of boy. He follows his feelings. Feyenoord? That could be, or PSV."

Ten Cate, who has worked in England at Chelsea, is now coaching Al Wahda in the UAE.

Meanwhile, this season Holland international Wijnaldum managed 51 appearances for the Reds, scoring three goals. And while he is being linked with giants across Europe, nothing is yet agreed. Indeed, there's every chance Wijnaldum will play in the Euros as a clubless player.

For Dutch great Marco van Basten, the situation is baffling. Van Basten is concerned Wijnaldum could be playing for Holland as a free agent this summer - which may be a problem for Holland's title hopes.

He explained, "He is going to play a European Championship and it is strange that it is not yet known (his next club). It may also be distracting, because if he is working with clubs during the European Championship, then you are not completely there."
