Szczesny will return to Arsenal but could be back at Roma - Polish FA chief

Polish FA president Zibi Boniek believes Wojciech Szczesny could return to AS Roma next season.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper is currently on loan with the Italian club from Arsenal but there has been plenty of speculation regarding this future in recent times.

Some reports suggest Roma do not want to purchase Szczesny outright, which has opened the door to a potential move elsewhere in the Premier League, with Everton showing interest.

However, Boniek is of the belief that the 23-time Poland international will either head back to Arsenal as their number one or spend another season with the Giallorossi if Petr Cech remains in North London.

"I never meddle with the careers of the national team players, so I do not want to talk much about Szczesny's future," he told Italian radio station Centro Suono Sport.

"Every time I spoke with him he told me that he is happy in the Italian capital, his only thought is to do well with Roma and move forward with them in the Champions League.

"I know for a fact that if he is not bought by Roma his dream is to return to Arsenal as their number one goalkeeper.

"But Cech is already doing well, so it is difficult to guess.

"Many Premier League clubs are also interested, but there might be another year on loan at Roma for him, perhaps after signing an extension with Arsenal."
