Sydney FC are expected to unveil their new coach, Vitezslav Lavicka later this week. The former Czech U21 boss will be handed the reins after the club sacked John Kosmina on Saturday.
Lavicka has also been in charge at successful Czech club Sparta Prague but is currently without a job.
"I'd say 99.9 per cent of soccer people here would never have heard of him," a Sydney FC insider told The Australian.
"But, that could be a good thing. The club needs a new perspective.
"Clearly he has great credentials and having a different approach, someone with new and fresh ideas is going to be good for Sydney FC.
"From what I have been told, he is a very thoughtful, very knowledgeable man who can be demanding.
"He apparently likes to play a counter-attacking game with an emphasis on one-touch football.
"I don't know what he will make of our football as most of our (A-League) players are more used to having two touches on the ball."
