Sweden coach Janne Andersson: England can go all the way

Sweden head coach Janne Andersson believes England can win the World Cup after defeat in the quarterfinals.

Goals from Leicester City defender Harry Maguire and Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli sent the Three Lions through to their first World Cup semi-final since 1990, though goalkeeper Jordan Pickford denied their opponents three times.

"Yes, I definitely believe they are," Andersson stated when asked if England are contenders. "They are forceful, well-organised.

"I'd like to pay tribute to the team and coach. They are a good footballing side. I think they would be perfectly able to go all the way."

England head coach Gareth Southgate echoed his counterpart's comments, praising his squad.

He said on BBC One: "I cant speak highly enough of the whole squad and whole group of staff because it is so united in there.

"The level of work has been great and their commitment to each other, you don't get through with just 11 players. They are all top people and are the reason we are in the semi-final just as much as any other."
