Swansea seek deal for Everton forward Naismith

Swansea City are showing considerable interest in a winter deal for Everton's Steven Naismith.

Multiple outlets are reporting that the Swans are seeking a saviour to help them move away from the Premier League relegation zone and have identified Toffees forward Naismith as that man.

The Scotland international was close to joining Norwich City recently but a deal fell through and Swansea are now set to swoop.

It is believed the South Wales outfit, who are willing to offload Bafetimbi Gomis, are prepared to offer £9million for 29-year-old who has been rarely used by Roberto Martinez this season.

Regarding the pursuit of Naismith, Swans interim boss Alan Curtis said: "I think he's on a list [of transfer targets]. I know he's a player available - he's an excellent player.

"Like all good players, if we can afford to bring him in, then we will be interested.

"We're still looking for that main striker. Steve is probably someone who plays just behind the main striker but someone we will be interested in."
