Ashley Williams is delighted to have been asked to captain the Wales national team and has played down any row with former skipper Aaron Ramsey.
The Swansea City defender has been handed the captain's armband by manager Chris Coleman, replacing Arsenal's Ramsey, and is humbled to be leading his nation into action against Scotland in Cardiff in World Cup qualifying tomorrow night.
Williams has captained the Dragons on four occasions and admits he was not too sure if the opportunity would come his way again but is thrilled it did.
"Probably not to be honest, because I thought Aaron was doing a good job. I was just concentrating on trying to play my best for Wales. So probably not, but I'm happy," he said.
"He (Coleman) asked me if I wanted to do it - he didn't tell me I had to. He called me and said he had spoken to Aaron. Obviously I was over the moon, and he just said we would have a chat when we got to camp."
He added: "I have spoken to Aaron and he said congratulations. We kind of laughed and that was it really - no big deal. We get on fine."
