Swansea boss Monk: Don't judge Sigurdsson on goals

Swansea City boss Garry Monk insists Gylfi Sigurdsson shouldn't be judged on goals.

Monk reckons it is not the Icelander's job to fill the void left by a misfiring Bafetimbi Gomis.

He said: “Gyfli's primary job isn't to score goals, his job is to be a link and assist players.

“Last year when he focused on assisting players the goals started coming.

“You have to get players back to their strengths and what they are good at and all the other things will come.

“Gylfi is not in the team to score goals, it's great if he contributes but his contribution is to link with the other midfielders and provide assists.

“I'm sure the goals will come but he shouldn't be judged on that."
