Swansea boss Carvalhal: I want to buy 'lobster', but can only afford 'sardines'

Swansea boss Carlos Carvalhal says the club has money to buy "sardines" but he wants to sign "lobster".

The Portuguese has started to look at targets having taken over in Wales last month after the dismissal of Paul Clement.

Given position at the bottom of the table, Carvalhal accepts it may be difficult to sign quality players.

"Probably we have money for sardines and I am thinking lobster," he said.

"I will do my best to try to bring in the best players. That is why I am starting to look to the lobsters and to the sea bass, if not we must try sardines.

"Sometimes sardines can win games!

"We can jump to another level sometimes. It is not a question of money, sometimes it's a question of opportunity and the quality of the players."
