Newcastle United legend Malcolm Macdonald is yet to be won over by Jack Colback.
Supermac wrote in the Evening Chronicle: "Jack Colback was unlucky not to spend more time with England during the international fortnight. Injury saw him sent home early without even a fleeting sub appearance.
"The lad is a busy, busy player but is he England class? He must look at the two midfielders who have departed, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard, and look at their class and their goals record.
"That is the standard already set and Jack must strive to reach it. That means starring for Newcastle and, if given the opportunity, getting forward to finish, which is a job vacancy at SJP right now.
"He did it for Sunderland at St James' Park but he needs to repeat the feat when released from his sitting role."
