The agent of legendary Ukrainian goalkeeper Oleksandr Shovkovsky has revealed he was wanted by Manchester United.
Shovkovsky, 41, has just announced his retirement after 339 games with Dynamo Kyiv and 92 caps for Ukraine.
And Sandor Varga revealed: "I met with Sir Alex Ferguson, because he admired the talent he saw in Shovkovsky.
"He wanted to see him in his team.
"However," continued Varga. "Manchester United then had a goalkeeper and goalkeepers are always difficult to sell, so it didn't go anywhere.
"Oleksandr had been in the interest of Arsenal, but a concrete offer was never seen."
