Sunderland's Elmohamady proud to be an Egyptian in the Premiership

Ahmed Elmohamady will formally complete a permanent move to Sunderland in the summer when his loan spell from ENPPI ends. The 23 year old is one of a handful of his countrymen plying their trade outside Egypt and he is happy to have the opportunity to prove himself to a wider audience.

He told the club's official website: "I am very pleased for my fans in Egypt that Sunderland want me to stay permanently.

"Not many Egyptian players play outside the country and it is good for them to see people playing in Europe.

"This is what they hope to see and it is very good for the game in Egypt."
