Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback was delighted with his England U20 experience last week.
Colback told safc.com: "It's an honour to play for your country. I think it's every footballer's aim to get to that stage and I was glad to get on.
"I wanted to get a bit more time, but it's a start and I wanted to try to make the most of it and put a marker down for myself."
The game was Colback's first involved with England at any level, and the 19-year-old, who has made Sunderland's first-team bench this season, admits he didn't expect to receive the call-up.
"I've never quite made it into England squads before, so when I found out I was on standby I was pleased but I was quite surprised I then got called up.
"I got a call from someone at the FA on Saturday night saying that they needed me to go down and meet up.
"After that, I was rushing around and had to come to the academy at half ten at night to get my boots as I was flying down the next morning!"
