Sunderland will not give up on Swansea City defender Ashley Williams.
The Daily Star says the Black Cats have had two offers turned down for the £5m-rated Swans skipper - who the Welsh club insist is not for sale despite having just 12 months left on his contract.
Talks on a new deal have yet to move beyond the preliminary stage, alerting Sunderland boss Gus Poyet, who is a long-term admirer of the 29-year-old Wales international.
Williams' agent Jamie Moralee expects the Black Cats to come in with a third improved offer.
He said: "Sunderland have made it clear that they will just keep bidding and bidding. They want the player and I understand that.
"Sunderland are trying to get their business done early, while others prefer to wait."
