Sunderland win race for Man Utd's Richardson

Sunderland boss Roy Keane has won the race for Manchester United midfielder Kieran Richardson.

Keane beat off competition from Manchester City and a late bid from Everton to land the England winger.

Richardson, 22, will have a medical on Wearside on Monday before finalising his £5.5 million move.

New City boss Sven Goran Eriksson made a dramatic bid to hijack the move for a player to whom he gave an international debut.

But the lure of teaming up again with Old Trafford legend Keane proved too strong for Richardson.
