Sunderland are monitoring Marco Motta's situation at Roma.

The fullback has been frozen out by Roma coach Claudio Ranieri ever since his January move to Manchester City fell through.

Motta is in co-ownership between Roma and Udinese and does not see a future for himself in the capital.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is keeping tabs on the situation in the event he cannot thrash out terms over permanent deal for on-loan Tottenham fullback Alan Hutton.
