Sunderland have made a surprise bid for Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe.
Black Cats boss Roy Keane is anxious to land a prolific goal scorer and has turned to Defoe following Darren Bent's arrival at White Hart Lane last week.
The Daily Express says Sunderland have made an £8 million offer for the England striker.
