Sunderland defender John Mensah will be available to play against Manchester City after his red card against Liverpool on Sunday was rescinded on appeal. The Ghana international was dismissed by referee Kevin Friend for an 81st-minute professional foul on Luis Suarez, much to the surprise of Black Cats boss Steve Bruce.
Bruce said: "We thank the Football Association for considering our appeal and naturally we are delighted he will be available for the game against Manchester City."
