Sunderland's Bruce delighted with Man Utd contingent

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has heaped praise on the former Manchester United players he has in his current squad. Wes Brown and John O'Shea joined this summer whilst Kieran Richardson, Phil Bardsley and Fraizer Campbell have all spent time at Old Trafford and the Black Cats boss, a former United skipper, says the winning mentality is rubbing off on the rest of the group.

"The one thing that you know they will bring you if they have spent years at Old Trafford is a fantastic mental attitude," Bruce told the Northern Echo.

"When you get players who have been there that long they know what they are doing and how to approach the game.

"You don't spend ten years at a club like United and not bring that mentality - the likes of Wes and O'Shea have it and they have brought it to us.

"If that helps us this season then great. That's what we signed them for - as well as their ability - and hopefully their experience will rub off on the players that around them."
