Sunderland are reviving their deal for Lorient defender Lamine Kone.
The Mail on Sunday says the Senegal centre back was left in limbo earlier this month after Sunderland agreed a £5million fee only for manager Sam Allardyce to say the deal was off days later.
Lorient threatened to take action but now Sunderland have returned to negotiate a loan deal instead.
Kone, 26, will sign until the end of the season before discussing a possible permanent move.
