Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is ready to step up a bid for Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos.
Bruce will intensify his interest in Arsenal's Senderos now Everton have pulled out of the race for the Swiss international centre-half.
Everton have turned their attention to Newcastle's England Under-21 skipper Steven Taylor after refusing to pay £4m for Senderos, 24.
