Sunderland legend Phillips: Poyet will be happy with Liverpool point

Sunderland legend Kevin Phillips says manager Gus Poyet will be pleased with their point at Liverpool.

Leicester City coach Phillips wrote in The Journal: "A point at Anfield is always welcome whoever you play for in football.

"And so Sunderland's point there yesterday will be music to Gus Poyet's ears as he travels back from Merseyside.

"I am currently in a hotel with the Leicester City squad as we prepare for our away game at Aston Villa. I managed to listen to the array of matches on though and by the sounds of it, Sunderland put on a good show.

"They had a bit of a penalty appeal turned down early on and all in all it sounded like they coped with Liverpool with ease."
