Reading have cleared the way for Stephen Hunt to move to Sunderland for £5 million.

The Sun says Roy Keane will make a January swoop for his fellow Irishman to aid the Black Cats' Premier League survival bid.

Hunt, 25, signed a new two-year contract with the Royals only this summer.

He said: "I have not been here long but at the same time you have to be positive and make the right decisions.

"You never know what is around the corner. Could something happen? I don't know. It is up to the clubs to get a bid accepted."
